Kriegsbruders form the armored fist of the army when the Order goes to war - their heavy armour, shields and longswords let them get stuck in to a melee, rather than the charge-retreat charge tactic of knights armed with lances. Kriegsbruders ("brothers of war") are so named to distinguish them from their clerical brethren (the "brothers of faith") who deal with the nonviolent side of the Order, such as spiritual and pastoral care, administering the farms and monasteries, and counting the money.
