Alchemy has produced weapons such as the Empyrean flamethrower and the poisoned arrows of the Rattan Vipers, but it has also been used to help and heal through the study of 'spagyrics', an off-shoot of alchemy dedicated to making medicines through alchemical processes. The "Ordre spagyrique de la miséricorde" or Spagyric Order of Mercy is an institution dedicated to healing the sick, and in this time of crisis have volunteered their services to aid the armies of the king. Following the example of Gabrielle-Maélys, the Maid of the Holy Vision, these fearless women brave the horrors of the battlefield, dispensing healing under fire to their comrades, all while armed with nothing more than a small knife each and some smoke bombs.

Unit Traits:
- Courage In Adversity: Alchemists will not actively attack the enemy when using Healing Hands or Blinding Smoke. When given an Attack order, they will wield their knives and fight like a melee unit until ordered to use Healing Hands or Blinding Smoke, at which point they will put their weapons away once more.
- Dress code: This unit can only use attires exclusive to it.

Alchemy, depending on the era and place, generally holds that all things are composed of four or five elements, and that through the use of a universal catalyst called a "stone", any substance can be changed into any other. The creation of the "stone" is done via a long and highly secretive process generally only written down in the most metaphorical and/or symbolic manner, usually in the fornh of songs, poems or elaborate illustrations, so as to keep it out of the hands of evildoers.
