The Story

A new Emperor sits on the throne in Reginopolis, and peace reigns in the Queen of Cities. Emperor Hadrianus inherited his rule from his father, the Sultan, and rules with a soft touch. As unrest and dissatisfaction among his subjects grows, so too does his eagerness to gain favour among his subjects through entertainment rather than intimidation.

Having ordered the restoration of the Colosseum and declared the return of the Gladiator Games, a bloodsport that once entertained the people of the ancient Aquiline Empire, his subjects rejoice in spectating the most brutal sport known to man.

Heroes step up to the plate to fight the best of the best in the Gladiator Games, and warriors from distant lands take up arms. As crowds rush to the fortress city to witness these future champions clash in brutal melee battles, shadowy forces conspire to move against the Emperor.

Vengeful scheming from a shifty conspirator and an unseen uprising fester beneath the surface of the fortress city, and the Emperor’s grip over Reginopolis is loosening by the day…

Campaign Schedule

Endure the trials of the greatest arena ever built, form alliances, and rise to glory as you embark on a new Seasonal Campaign in Conqueror's Blade: Colosseum!

To participate in the Campaign, you must belong to an NPC or player-controlled House/Cohort or Alliance, and fight alongside fellow Heroes via the ‘Battle’ interface or in the open world to gain control of settlements. Territory Wars begin on September 6 and will occur every Tuesday and Saturday throughout the season. For more information about Territory Wars, check out our top tips here.

The Seasonal Campaign is divided into five stages. Maoyang is the core region, with the main objective being its Capital: Anliang (in Stage 5). As stages progress, access is granted to neighbouring regions, which then become conquerable. Maoyang’s fiefs will grant Influence to their captors’ Alliance, and whoever controls Anliang will be the victor. The winning House’s liege will receive the Hegemon title, and all members will receive additional rewards.

New Seasonal Units

DIMACHAERI (3-Star)
September 1st

The Ancient Roman gladiator known as the Dimachaerus was notable for his barbarian-esque appearance and fighting style. Armed with two swords and only light armour as protection from the horrors of gladiator combat, the Dimachaeri still demonstrated superior skills in the arena. Equipped for close-combat fighting, these gladiators adapted to both attacking and defending with their swords, as they did not carry shields.

Lured by fame or simply driven by desperation, the Dimachaeri in Conqueror’s Blade are a staple of the Colosseum. These nameless gladiators are as mysterious as they are powerful, wielding two swords, one a simple blade, and the other a ‘siccae’ or curved sword, capable of ignoring enemy blocking and able to tear shields aside.

Their combat techniques also enable them to raise their damage potential for a short time, as well as utilising back-stepping after every strike to prevent the enemy from hitting them.

MYRMILLONES (4-Star)
September 12

There were many types of gladiators who amused and shocked crowds of spectators in the Colosseum during Ancient Rome, including the murmillones, a well-armed class that became popular during the Imperial period. A murmillo would enter the arena equipped with a gladius (Roman sword) and scutum (rectangular shield) and sufficient armour coverage.

Their armour included a belt with metal adornments (balteus), an arm guard (manica), a shin protector (ocrea), and thick leg padding (fasciae). Their crowning glory was their helmets—crafted from bronze, and featuring an ornate visor and a plumed crest.

As one of the first gladiators to grace the arena, the murmillones were the embodiment of the Roman people and represented the physical strength and stamina that their fans wanted to see in a gladiator hero. They also put on quite a show with their fearsome hack-and-slash style!

The Myrmillones in Conqueror's Blade are large, broad-shouldered, tough fighters who have won many bloody battles in the Colosseum. Wielding swords and shields, they band together to form tight-knit formations. Advancing with their shields raised, they usher their enemies backwards into certain doom using the Myrmillones' Guard.

A Myrmillo is trained relentlessly from a young age to battle. Thus, they excel at combat and are determined in breaking enemy defences. They consider the Colosseum their home, and they will defend it to the death.

RETIARII (5-Star)
TBD

Ancient Rome was the birthplace of the spectacle of gladiator battles fought in grand amphitheatres. Many warriors fought in these arenas, but none were as feared as the retiarii. A retiarius (the literal Latin translation is “net-man”) was a lightly-armoured gladiator armed with a weighted net, a trident, and a dagger. No helmets or footwear were worn; their anonymity and protection were forfeited in favour of agility.

A retiarius would use his net to trap their opponent or snare their weapon and were routinely pitted against a heavily-armoured and well-equipped combatant such as a myrmillo. While on paper this may seem incredibly unfair, the retiarii’s lack of armour made them nimble and able to avoid attacks, all the while waiting for an opportune moment to strike with their net before jabbing trapped foes with their trident.

A retiarius’ dagger was his last hope, and he would only use it in close combat or to cut his net free if it became snagged on his trident.

The Retiarii in Conqueror’s Blade are the undisputed champions of the Colosseum. As former officers of the Empyrean army, they fight for the amusement of their fellow citizens using a trident and javelins. Able to use speed to their advantage—just like their historical counterparts—the Retiarii are a highly mobile light infantry unit with efficient crowd control, able to stop cavalry charges with javelins and then close the gap with their tridents.

Although they aren’t equipped with nets, they have another ace up their sleeve. The Retiarii can curse enemies with the Mark of Death, inflicting a damage penalty and effectively trapping them in a state of condemnation.

Rules & Features:

  • King of the Hill style
  • Colosseum Mode is available to players Level 30 and higher.

up on the rules of engagement:

  • Both teams begin with 500 points.
  • If a team drops to zero points they loses the match.
  • Battles can last for up to ten minutes. If the timer expires with neither team losing all their point, the team with the highest point score wins.
  • Capturing the flag will reduce enemy teams’ points, but the capture zone will shrink as time goes on.

  • Falconetti Gunners

Quality of Life Improvements

User Interface Improvements

Throughout more than three years since the launch of Conqueror's Blade, we've worked hard to add more and more content to the game, which naturally means that many in-game systems and menus have grown more complex. The in-game menus weren't initially designed for the game's current complexity, which can make them difficult to read and use at times.

To tackle this issue head-on, we're making a series of UI optimisations to improve the visuals and user experience, with the first of these improvements going live with the launch of the free Conqueror’s Blade: Colosseum update on September 1. This first update will focus on the most frequently used menus: Events [O], Matchmaking [J] and the Weekly Season Lores.

EVENT MENU [O]

The new menu will feature a flatter design to cover the whole screen so that each segment has more space. We've also made changes to the layout and interaction logic so that events and news are available in a more transparent manner.

This also means that information will load faster, making it possible to quickly read what you need to know, and allowing faster interaction with in-game events.

MATCHMAKING MENU [J]

As a core system of the game, the original Matchmaking menu had a lot of room for optimisation. We've reorganised game modes into clearer types to ensure all players can easily join battles. We've also added a journal for limited-time events so that you can more easily see which events are available for the day or the week. We've also added Ranked Battles to its own menu so the rank rules and heroes’ rank will be more readily available.

WEEKLY SEASONAL LORE

The original design of the Weekly Challenges menu didn’t meet our expectations, and very few players had been checking the weekly lore updates. We'll be changing the main page of the Season menu when Colosseum launches, with additional voiced narration, story images, and new challenges appearing here each week. This should make it easier to keep up-to-date with the story of the current Season while you're busy with your own adventures!
