Lionfire
1. Season Units
T3 Reitar Pistoleers
Background Story:
-
During the brutal thirty-year war, a gunpowder revolution took root. Knights from the Rhineland region shed their heavy armor, retaining only essential defenses, abandoning their lances in favor of matchlock guns for combat. Employing a stately caracole tactic, they relied more on firearm than charges. However, Gustav II Adolf took a different approach. He instructed his Rhineland cuirassiers to forsake the tactic and the cumbersome long muskets, opting instead to engage fearlessly with short ones at close range before unsheathing their swords to charge."The cuirassiers of Rilmore do not open fire until they see the whites of their enemy's eyes." Such were the words of a general who witnessed firsthand these cuirassiers firing at point-blank range, then drawing their cavalry swords to ruthlessly cut down their mechanically advancing enemies who adhered to the caracole tactic. Amidst the chaos of war, where the desperate seek life, this unit seemed to resurrect the fearless charging stance on the battlefield, a century after the fully armored knights had succumbed to gunpowder defeat.
Battle Tactics:
-
Although the cuirassier is few in number, they are well-equipped. Each soldier is armed with a pair of improved short muskets and a knight sword, with armor that does not hinder shooting or close combat for protection. As the mainstay of the Gustavian military reforms, the cuirassiers differ from conventional heavy cavalry and dragoon musketeers. They utilize their mobility and advanced pistols to harass enemy formations, swiftly piercing through enemy lines like lightning at the opportune moment, unleashing specialized bullets and expert swordsmanship upon their foes. Much like a lion tearing into its prey, they instill fear and dread in the enemy ranks.
Unit Traits:
-
Carrying a pair of improved pistols, they can freely and flexibly shoot, and use special bullets to deal burst damage.
-
Close-range shooting could be highly destructive and has a controlling effect on target units.
Skill Design:
-
Skill 1: Roar of Powder (Utilize special bullets to shoot a powerful round at the target.)
-
Skill 2: Tearing Strike (Utilize the knight sword for several fierce thrusts at close range.)
T4 Swinefeathers
Background Story:
-
In the long years of war, if one were to ask which kind of people were most common, the answer would undoubtedly be the mercenaries who traversed between various factions. These seasoned arquebusiers never fought for honor; rather, they viewed chaos as a ladder, aiming to seize fame in the midst of conflict. The northern nation, with its small territory and a population fewer than the Rhineland states, found itself in greater need of their strength to partake in this grand war. Interestingly, these fickle mercenaries ended up staying within the army of the Northern Lion, even becoming the backbone of the military. In their own words: ""We can smell victory here." Gustav II Adolf devised new tactics for these experienced veterans. Utilizing rapid maneuvers and shooting, their great gunpower can overwhelm enemies many times their number. When cavalry charged like a torrent, they would counter with their swinefeather spears, sending the enemy straight to hell. These veterans, who had brushed shoulders with death countless times, were adept at handling any situation on the battlefield."You lads, stick with me! There may be plenty of kings in this world, but there's only one who knows how to fight."" — Mercenary leader, Monroe.
Battle Tactics:
-
They are composed of British mercenaries recruited by Sweden, capable of repelling enemies with portable anti-horse stakes and inflicting significant casualties on the enemy using modern volley fire techniques. They maintain strict military discipline, possess exquisite skills, and fully utilize the Gustavian formation's tactic of firing in lines. The portable pigtail gun stock they carry provides significant assistance for their precise shooting. Moreover, when they insert the gun stock into the ground, forming variously shaped anti-horse stakes, the strategic value is self-evident, forcing would-be aggressors to disarm and surrender.
Unit Traits:
-
Having relatively short attack range but powerful burst damage, strict military discipline, and exquisite skills.
-
Having a gunstock provides higher accuracy, but when the gunstock is inserted into the ground, it generates Cheval de Frise sufficient to deter enemies.
Skill Design:
-
Skill 1: Attack Area (continuous shooting into a designated area)
-
Skill 2: Triple Shooting (Six column formation instantly transforms into three columns, then opens fire simultaneously, providing powerful firepower suppression to the target area.)
-
Skill 3: Cheval de Frise (insert the butt into the ground within a certain range to form a strong Cheval de Frise)
T5 Lionroar Crew
Background Story:
-
During the era of wars, cannons were commonly used by all nations. However, among the military leaders, it was only Gustav II Adolf who saw cannons as the core of revolutionizing warfare in that age. He handpicked the best of his country's officers and formed a dedicated artillery unit. The establishment of an independent artillery unit was an unprecedented initiative. During that time, military commanders of various countries often viewed cannons as cumbersome heavy artillery, which lack mobility. However, the king believed that by modifying the cannons themselves to overcome their mobility issues, cannons would become the decisive weapons of the next era's battlefield. He shortened the cannon barrels, lightened the carriages, and standardized the production of cannon parts. Consequently, that northern nation's artillery units could deploy and move cannons at any time and place. The excellent battlefield judgment and combat determination of artillery officers also made this unit a undefeatable force in Western world of that time.
-
Those who surpass are always blessed by the era. This unit, along with their king, became legends of that era, with their cannon fire described by poets as the "roar of a lion," shaking their enemies.
Battle Tactics:
After setting up the artillery at the appropriate location, push it to the front line; while using the pistol to guard against enemy sneak attacks, pour high-density shotgun shells at the enemy.
Unit Traits:
Set up a powerful cannon, with fifteen soldiers divided into three artillery teams, launching dense and numerous shotgun shells to saturate the enemy with firepower.
Skill Design:
Skill 1:
-
Set Up Artillery (Set up the artillery at the designated location)
-
Move Artillery (Move the artillery to the designated location)
Skill 2:
